i have a male jackson chameleon that is about 7 months old. ive had him for about 3 months. in the past two or three days, hes been acting kind of weird. he seems to be hanging out on the bottom more often. but today was the weirdest.
i came back from home depot and went to my room to mist his cage. i couldnt find him. i was looking all over and finaly i did find him. he was in this little container(i have the container on the bottom of the cage to catch the dripping water that falls off of the plant.) he was just sitting there in about 1/2 inch of water. he wasnt trying to escape, and he wasnt stressed out at all. as a matter of fact, he was very, very bright. i immediately took him out and put him on a branch, and he has just been hanging out on some plants since then.
the only thing i could think of is that he might have been dehydrated. but he doesnt appear so. his eyes arent shrunken in at all. also, there is a dripper dripping for aout 10 consistent hours, and i see him drink from it. also, i mist the cage down with warm water about 3-5 times a day.
if anyone knows what might be wrong, or has any suggestions of what i can do, please tell me. thanks

yes, he is pooping and eating. througout a week he eats about two doen+crickets, about 6 mealworms and about 5 waxworms.
i dont think his cage is too hot. the basking spot is about 90 or so and the rest of the cage is about 80. at night time the temperature is 70.
in his cage there are plenty of vines and sticks to climb on. there is some sand-blasted grapevine on the bottom that is going upwards. i also have a fake plant with water dripping onto it for about 10-12 consistant hours. i also mist it down with warm water 3-5 times a day. i also have a lot of fake plants all together in one corner, with their vines spreading out throughout the cage. he is in a 65 gallon reptarium.

are there any mirrors???is it high traffic??? is it cause there are criekts running around the room?? anything that will atract him to the gound???how think are the branchs, they might be to big for him to climb, is there "too" much vines that he cant even climb? If hes stilling eating and drinking then i dont see a problem, its still young, but usually when its on the ground its sick....take it to the vet;)
just thoughts

there are no mirrors/windows around. th branches arent too thick, it isnt over crowded, and he usualy eats most ofthe crickets that i put in the cage right away.
he hasnt done it again. as a matter of fact, i havent even seen him on the ground since then. maybe he was just curious and wanted to see what was down there. or atleast i hope so. he doesnt seem to be sick or anything, so im just gonna give it some time to see if it happens again.
