Ok... One of the females I kept back out for breeding out of my mouse colony appeared to be your typical albino with red eyes and white fur... then not long after she was weaned she began to develop grey points? White fur, red eyes, grey nose, ears and tail. So what is she?

Linds- I have read some about mice strains that develop markings just a bit later than normal.....is she any of these?

Here is an article mentioning seal point developing their darker tips later...

Thanks for the links! She looks kinda like the Blue Point Siamese, with the exception of her body being completely white... her points are not dark enough to fit in to the Himalayan category though  Either way it seems like a backwards morph to me... lol... the whole "almost albino, but" thing doesn't compute very well :p

I have a few rex/blue point crosses that also didn't develop any colouring until well into their 6th week or so.

Our siamese line of mice didn't develop color until after weaning and also the color point development is temperature dependent - colder temps lead to darker points - just like in Siamese cats. Sounds like you have a blue point - they are lovely - clear white coats and just a hint of color on the points. If you breed black to the color point and then breed the offspring you will be able to get strongly pointed Himalayans.
