although there are a number of good monitor books out there, only a very small number have good husbandry sections. The two I would recommend are:
The Savannah Monitor Lizard: The Truth About Varanus Exanthematicus
by Daniel Bennett, Ravi Thakoordyal
Australian Goannas
by Matt Vincent, Steve Wilson
both are available on Amazon.com
On captive care, but the Matt Vincent book is about more about monitors in the wild of Australia. Rob Fausts Nile monitor book is about captive care and isnt quite as good as the Bennett book but a definite 2nd over any other title. Both are small inexpensive books and reading M.Vincents, and King and Greens book will allow you to study their biology which allows you to understand why certain things are needed in captivity and why certain temps etc moisture levels are usable.

So can their natural habitats. However, SHvar does have a point because you don't need to know what animals eat them and what their behaviors in the wild are.

well, MY copy of the Vincent book has a section on captive care as well
Theres 30 pages of captive care, euthanasia, and preserving dead specimans in the Matt Vincent book, the Rob Faust book is like Bennetts book about "Captive Care of monitors". Yes, there is a section in Australian Goannas about captive care, and so is there a section in "Giant lizards" and many other books, but the books I mentioned are specific on captive care thats why I mentioned them.

I agree completely. With monitors, you need to get straight to the point!
