Hey people,
I am changing my savannah monitors bulb, because I think it would be better if they get more heat that they are getting now. At this moment I am using a 75 watt and I was wondering how much more heat will a 100 watt give off, and same thing about a 150 watt? Their basking platform is 11 inches away the light/heat dome. Also which watt would you guys/ladys think would be better? Oh yea forgot to say, their tem. at the platform is roughly 1200*f at the hottest point.

You have a hotspot in the cage that's 1200F?? Holy crap! Doesn't it catch fire? LOL.
This should all really be done BEFORE you put any monitors in there. And no on can tell you what light to use, as all situations and setups are different. YOUR job is to play around, experiment, and deduce the best setup for the KNOWN temperature ranges on your own. That's what being a monitor keeper is all about. Well, part of it.

Many, many factors affect the temperature. That is why no two enclosures are exactly alike.

What i was told by experienced people is that their is no exact temp you need but id say 120 is ok..if you notice he doesnt bask or goes to and leaves quickly, this would most liekely be a sign that he cant stand the heat for very long. Get a reliable thermometre and try diff wattages out...i use a 75 watt, zoomed, light and the platform is a bout a foot away and i get about 125F and he seems to like that. Its all about your tank...good luck!

Bartman, you're becoming an expert!:D
"Pink Floyd Rules"- so true
If he heat in the warm spots and only stays there for a very short period of time .. In my oppinion .. it doesn't mean its too hot..
Its one way they thermo regulate.. They soak up the heat and then thats enough to keep em for a while .. mine never sleeps at the same place.. its all about giving them choices..
