URD:

Plants are really nice for decoration and air quality control but depending on the animals that will live with these plants you maybe wanting something that in the long run maybe more of a headache. Also be cautious not all plants are safe with reptiles and other animals. Depending on snakes and there strenght and size and how you position these plants, you will have more maintenance on the plants than you wish to have.

Put all these factors into play and judge if plants are really what you want to use in your reptile cages.

We here use plastic plants easy to care for and maintain and do not get destroyed or hard the animals. The DOLLAR STORE and WALMART have lots of $1.00 plastic plants and vines.

Plastic Plants are always a good idea but if you must go with a real plant and your keeping a boa just go with a pathos....its vine like and grows like a weed. It takes alot of poor care to kill one of those plants...but plastic is easier trust me.

They might look nice in there but your boa would probably demolish a live plant.

I agree with Big V that plastic plants would do just fine.

Ive heard plants use oxygen at night and can cause suffocation in a small enclosure, even when screen tops are used (CO2 heavier than air) anyone else heard of this??

ONE MORE HERPER:

From what I remember way back in junior high school in biology. Plants consume carbon dioxide during the day with photosynthesis reaction to produce oxygen. But at night its the reverse they consume oxygen and create carbon dioxide which is what we breathe out and after awhile in a closed environment would be very unhealthy and dangerous. This is why many people do not put plants in bedrooms, simply beacause they do not know the science behind it but more of a myth they heard.

Plants are nice but over the long run plastic plants are way better.
