What is the black thing in the middle of the cage? It looks like it is in front of the cage divider?

Looks good otherwise, but that black thing takes away from the visual appeal.

That black thing is a door lock... without it we 'really' wouldn't have any visual appeal in the cage as there would be no more snakes! {G}

Really though, we're going to stain it to match - it was just the best locking mechanism we could come with at 2 am... hey it works...

great looking set-up but finished, lol, no chance, a year or so you'll be converting 2 more so each gets the full size it needs and two more openings will be available for new animals. Finished, lol, thats funny. j/k

LOL I know what you mean, we're already talking about the new enclosure for the Boa once the bloods get large enough to need the whole 5 ft long cabinet!!! OY! It never ends, it's grueling, it's misery, fingers to the bone, sa la vie.... that's the life of a herper, or is that a hermit??? !!! (G)

Kurzix, yeppers, industrial tile for commercial floors like one would see in a department store, it can be finished high gloss, but I just keep it as is and scrub it once a week.

Thank you Linds!!! Loved the cat and snake pictures, I bet that snake is thinking, "one of these days kitty!, One of these days!" (G)

Thanks bunches! It's poylcoat stain in mahogany brushed over laminate, then over brushed to reveal the lighter laminate underneath to mimic graining<G> It was actually fun to do, but I'm a DIY kind a gal, a fact which constantly gets on Jon's nerves to be sure<G>.

that looks great, im currently in the middle of building my FIRST enclosure for my FIRST SNAKE!. im building it at school with the remaining time i have there before i finish!.
the cage is for a diamond python, lovley looking animal, tho i have constructed it so the width is 600mm, depth 600 and its hieght is 1200, kinda like urs sophia tho turned on its side.
are these dimensions ok? i am a little worried that i need a wider cage?

Oh Rob, I would kill for a Diamond! Gorgeous babies! Now in our terms that's approximately 2ft X 2ft X 4ft, I would think he might need a little more length in the cage once he's full grown but for a start that sounds pretty darn good. I've never owned one but if memory serves and this is a good question for some of the others on the site, these guys can reach somewhere around 12 ft in length.

I love the sigline btw Rob!

and Thanks Mary!!!! Much appreciated.

right, well im gonna have to modify it a little, lucky cause im not that far into it, should finish in about a week, next is to buy all the cage requirements, heating etc.
im not quite sure about what to use for heating,
either, ceramic, tape etc.
diamonds i think only need middle 70's to low 80's. it seems low tho.

I can't believe that I didn't catch your member name and thought I saw Rob!!!! ROFL, sorry bout that, roh! On the modification, they keep us on our toes with that around here *G*. We generally use two foms of heat, one on the ground level for basking and digestion and a source for heating the whole cage, which in all honesty 'can' be done with one source properly placed. Just don't forget the gradient. I can't remember if the site here has a care sheet for diamond pythons but you might check the net and get a couple of opinons on their care and go from there.

Someone on list with the species will most likely answer your query today if they happen to see it and if you're looking for a care sheet for the Diamond, post a message to that effect and you'll likely get at least a dozen. Folks on here are very good about answering right away.
