While they may not be professional in the sense that they can make a living off of it, there are some exellent herp photographers right here in Ontario who would probably be able to help you out. What species are you looking for?

Jeff, any herp photographers in Ontario that come to mind that have prints for sale? As far as species go I'm into dart frogs, exotic geckos, and pythons but would be open to any interesting or neat shots. To be honest just bought a new house and just looking for some pics to spruce up the place. Any help would be great!!!

Jughead,
The cost of actually doing 'prints' for sale is fairly expensive. I don't know anyone doing this *yet* in Ontario. I say yet because I plan to once we are open to the public. One wall of the gift shop area is planned to be a gallery of herp art/photography. For single prints, it is cheaper to take the photo negative or slide, and get an enlargement to the size you want. Then get the enlargement framed or plaque mounted.
The people I know would most likely have lots of good shots of native herps suitable for framing. I've got a couple on the wall myself. I don't know of anyone with pics of what you're looking for. You might try specifically asking if anyone has good quality pictures of the species you want. They need to be suitable quality for enlargment, which rules out all but the best digitals.
Good luck,

I am actually in the process of getting some photo prints as well as digital drawings of some of my prints. I don't have too many as of yet, but I do have some good ones of jacksons, d auratus, red eyed tree frogs, etc. If you would like to see some of them, send me an e-mail at cornelius85@cornelsworld.com.
I think I will be selling 8 X 10s for $15.00, and will also be doing 5 X 7 for $12.00 and 4 X 6 for $6.00
Let me know. I can also digitally alter peoples own higher quality pictures to looking like paintings or pencil drawings. Once I get to work, I will post some pictures.

At the last ERAS show here in Edmonton, there was a guy who was selling herp photos. He was a pro photographer who had a small gallery with many different subjects...his herp photos were very good. As were his other photos...I bought a calender of b&w landscapes.
I don't remember his name though. If anyone is interested, I might be able to find out.

Here is one that I have done in a couple different variations. These are 8 X 10 size prints scaled down for the web.
I have a bunch more I will be posting on my website for sale in the next little while.

The quality obviously would be much better when printed out and using the full size picture.
Let me know what you think.
