Hi, I just got my snake yesterday.
The temps in the tank are 70 in the cool and 85 in the hot. Since last nite, she has been in her hide box. Been about 8-9 hours now, should i be worried? or is this part of her getting used to her new surroundings?
thx for the help
Get used to it - she will be in her hide most of the time! BPs like to hide out a lot and are also most active at night. Its not at all unusual for me not to see much of mine, but usually if I check on her late evening, that's when she's starting to come out of her hide and cruise around. Also, when they are new they will often hide out even more until they get used to their new surroundings, which could take a couple of weeks. I would suggest that as much as you would love to get her out and play with her, to just let her stay put until she feels secure enough to start coming out on her own a lot. By the way, sounds like you got her enclosure set up, with temps established before you got her - good for you.

You need to bump those temps up a bit. Go with 90-92 hot side, and 76-80 cool side. They can drop a few degrees at night. Make sure your snake has a hide on both sides.
Don't expect to see your bp too much during the day.

Yup, bump those temps up to about 90-95 (no higher than 95) degrees. Cool side should be 75-85.
She will hide for a while. As Auskan said, you will want to wait to handle her for a while. atleast 2wks. And I would wait that long to attempt to feed her. Then ONLY if she feeds successfully for 3-4 times then start taking her out more and change her substrate from newsprint or paper towel to whatever else substrate you want, like aspen, or repti bark.
