Well, after getting back my het-albino male (purchased from Todd Constable.. apparently Professional Breeders stock), which was at BoidKeeper's place, I placed him with my het-albino female (also purchased from Todd). I wasn't sure if the female was going to be up to it this year or not, but she's over the 1500g mark, and appears to be doing well, so I decided to give her a shot after all. Here are some pictures of them... hopefully the male will get the job done :-)

Note: the male is the higher colored one.. the female is very low in yellow... not sure how that will play out for producing albinos, but we'll see... Hopefully there was some error somewheres and I ended up with a VPI axanthic het for albino.. HA! I realize that it's not the case, but please allow me to dream of a "snow" storm ;-)

Here's a picture of a black back import I also purchased from Todd.. she looks like she's going to be a greater feeder and hopefully ready to breed next year.. we'll see how it goes:

Here's pictures of my first Ball Python.. just a plain normal that won my heart to Ball Pythons (and many others actually that were introduced to snakes with this guy..):

How did one of the toad pictures get in here anyways?? :-)

That's an awesome pair, good luck with the "hopeful" snows. :D Did you get that low-yellow female as an import? If that's the case, you never know!

Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the kind words everyone.. let's hope we'll at least see one albino this year.. I'd be very happy with just 1 yellow/white baby :-)

Jennifer: the female was not an import.. well, it was imported from the US from what I understand. It's supposed to have been purchased from Bob Clark. If it's really a het-albino like it's supposed to be, it couldn't be a wild-caught import because then we would not know it's genetics. For it to be a known het-albino, it has to have been captive-bred.

The pictures I posted make her lower-yellow than she really is with the flash. I will try to post a picture of her one of these days with a picture that the flash doesn't wash out the little yellow she has.

Later all,
Bristen.

Looks good Bristen! Say can I borrow all the females from this paring? If an albino male is born I know where you can get 5 adult females for a season!
Cheers,
Trevor

Well Trevor, the old farmers always said: don't count your chickens until they hatch! I think this really applies in this case heh :-) Let's see what comes out first. I'd actually much prefer a female albino, but no matter what comes out, I don't think we will be able to keep them and will have to sell as much as we don't like that. But whatever comes out, I'll let you know and we can talk then :-)

Later,
Bristen.

Why would you prefer a female albino?

Well, the thing is that I find that the high-contrast albinos are the most desirable ones. I suspect that my female will not help to attain higher-contrast albinos. My male however, does appear to be what would be needed to produce higher- contrast albinos. If I get a female albino, I could then breed her with the male and hopefully get higher-contrast albinos as a result. If it's a male, I'd have to breed him with the low-yellow female. That was the only reasoning I had... we would be quite happy with either male or female, as long as it's white & yellow!

Bristen.
