I picked up this little CBB monkey from Chris Riedinger @ Reptile Headquarters. 100% healthy and eats anything in site, myself included :p

There is always a good variety of ATB available at the Toronto expos as well. I work at Kris' Reptiles which isn't far from you (St. Catharines), and we can order anything in, if you are looking for something local. As mentioned above, PCPC always has some in stock.

I caught mine copulating last week so with any luck they will stay at it and I'll have some in the spring. It's still early though so they may have just been practicing.

If you caught them copulating last week, you won't be seeing any babies in the spring. early fall maybe. You might want to check the gestation period. It's a long one. lol

at least...When I see mine copulate...usually about 8 months. I rarely notice ovulation so I can't say from experience how many days from then.

I've measured gestation to be 120 and 122 days from the post-ovulation shed. With the shed lasting 21-30 days, that's a total of 5 months max. This is consistent with Danny Mendez' observations, as well as Jeff Ronnes intitial discovery of measuring gestation from post-ovulatory shed dates in BCI.
Many people think that gestation is actually longer than it is because the female may not be conceiving directly after an observed copulation- in this case the female isn't gravid yet, just holding sperm.
If you see them mating, pay attention to how she swells up 5-7 days later. This is a good indication of ovulation, and is confirmed if she then goes into an extraordinarily long shed cycle (3-4 weeks). You can then measure 105-120 days from the day she sloughs her skin.

Here is a link to Danny mendez's "observations" Please show me where he notes a 120 day gestation....Maybe I'm reading wrong but it looks like 175-200 days average for corallus and if you crank up the heat and they happen to bask a lot, 150 days at the earliest. Mine seem to avoid the heat for most of the duration but there is about a month or so when they cling to the heat pretty heavy. I had one gravid female that decided to take a soak once. It was the first time she was ever gravid and I thought it was kinda cool how she would get in the water bowl but loop a coil heavy with babies outside the bowl so as not to cool that part of her body. She's a good momma. :)

but anyway...the point is, if you catch them copulating in late Jan-Early Feb...You will not be seeing any babies in the spring.

My mistake on quoting Danny Mendez, Julius. You're right about his timeline being 150 days. Either way, mine seem to drop babies 4 months from post-ovulations shed date.

I gave up totally on trying to count days from ovulation...that whole ovulation process is too freaking long with these animals. I watch mine screw...I look at the calendar and check the spot 8 months away and bingo...within a week or so I have babies lol...very scientific huh? bah whatever works. Another marker I use with mine is almost exactly 1 month before birth, the female goes off feed completely. This may well be a phenomina that only occurs at my house. I don't have a clue. I have heard that some go off feed for several months. But I have yet to experience that and so far it's pretty reliable.

I over think and over record all my other snake to death. With these guys after reading the reproductive husbandry of pythons and boas I decided to just place them together in a natural viv in my living room and forget about them. It apears to have worked I think. Either way we'll know in 7-8 months I guess.
