Interesting, looks just like mine! They both have that contrasting charcoal appearance, most specimens I have encountered are more light-coloured (straw-yellow).

Mine looks like it has red lines on the side of him. Do you have a pic with a size comparasion? I would love to see it. Do they eat well for you guys? I got mine last week, tried to feed it thursday, it refused and I'm hoping it was just the stress of a new place. He is out more now, crusing around, so I'm hoping he will eat for me.

Well this is an CBB 2002 animal and he is about 15"+ Long and about 3/4"-1" in girth, He also went off feed for the last 3 months but just ate saturday with no problem so I guess he is back into feeding mode, I did put him down for the winter though and they are notorious for going into brumatation by themselves, I also feed mine with tongs so it doesn't get scared and not want to eat. Best of luck.

Dave.

Thanks. I was told that he would eat live or f/t. Do they brumate so young? (about 6 months) and so small (about 8 inches)? if so when do they go into it and when do they come out? will they be active?

He has gotten alot more active, cruising around on top of the aspen, and up the sides of the rubbermaid. He will stick his head out from the aspen and sit there for HOURS in the same position (atleast his head).

At that young of an age I would guess not, Have you tried leaving him overnight that might do the trick. Mine seems to only want to eat either non moving or Pre-Killed items he gets intimidated by live so thats another possibility.

well if he don't eat it straight off I will leave it in there with him overnight.

the PCPC expo in Mississagua is coming up soon. No guarantees, but it's probably a pretty good bet, although if these forums are any indication, you're going to be competing with a lot of other buyers for any hoggies for sale.
