Hello everyone!
From what i understand, both common and alligator snapping turtles are ilegal to own in Alberta? Thanks.

4. SOFT-SHELLED TURTLES (Family Trionychidae)
Soft-shelled Turtles Genus Trionyx
Ryan - you are a wealth of information!!! I always appreciate your posts. They are informative, interesting and you refrain from getting enmeshed in the bickering that others sometimes do. Thank you.

Thanks Ryan!
That looks like its from the controlled list which i have:D! LOL. I was just making sure.
You can own those with a permit? I know your in saskatchewan but would you have any idea where i could get one? I would hopefully like to get a common snapper. Do you know how much they eat and how much space they need? Thanks.

"i know your in saskatchewan but would you have any idea where i could get one?"
By that i mean a permit not the turtle itself!
Thanks again.

Auskan, thanks for your kind words but I just snagged that info from the controlled list I have saved. I guess I should have mentioned where it came from, certainly not from my head.
Chris. I am not aware of any new permits that have been granted to Albertans to keep species on the restricted list. From what I've heard, they usually just say no - but if you would like to inquire yourself, just talk to one of your local Conservation Officer - they can give you some information or help you find someone who has what you are looking for.
