Well still dont have a BP yet but Im all ready for one, I found a breeder that seems realy good, (nice looking animals, great prices and terms ),but as with just about all places has all males no females. Since I dont want a BP that stays tiny should I wait it out for a female, or would a male be almost as impresive?
Males don't exactly stay tiny - they're just smaller than females.
Yeah males do not stay tiny. In fact some get BIG! Its in GENERAL a female may reach 6 feet, but you don't often see that.
For a pet, a male or female works out the same IMHO. You will enjoy either.

I see you are in NJ..........Joe Compel is close to you. Joe is a great guy with great animals. You can check out his website at http://www.joecompelreptiles.com/
Their are other great breeders in the USA, however, Joe seems to be the closest one to you.
As far as sex goes both are impressive. However, if you plan on breeding in the future go with a female.

BPs are not "tiny" snakes... either a male or a female will have a fairly impressive girth on them if cared for properly :) Females do tend to get a little bit larger length-wise, but either way if you're just looking for a pet you'll end up with a good sized snake :) However if you plan on breeding, it's always a good idea to get the female first as they need a bit more time than males to grow and mature before being ready to breed...
Hope that helps a bit :)

Hey thanks everyone for the input:
I gave Joe Compel a try but it seems he wont have anything available until the summer, and theres no way I can wait that long for my 1st snake ever! Ive tried several breeders Bob Clark, N.E.R.D., Ralph Davis, etc, and no one has any females. I would like to breed in the future, but I would also like to gain some experience at the basics of snake keeping so looks like Ill have to get a little guy first. Hopefully I can get a little girl in the summer.
Even if I waited until the summer for aquiring a female, would that realy put my aspirations of breeding far behind?
I guess first things first eh? Learn how to care and handle first, than worry about breeding. Oh by the way the guy I hope to buy from is at this website check it out and let me know what you think, its at ( WWW.ALEXHUEREPTILES.COM )
Please give your thoughts on what you see.
Thanks Always

I think what you should do is pick the snake you want. By that I mean find one that's feeding, with the pattern and colors you want. If its male, great, female great. Worry about it's mate later on. It won't set you too far back to pick up a female in the summer, and yes you are right. Step by step then you can worry about breeding.
