what size scale would be good to measure colubrids? 500grams?

Most colubrids will weigh in the 1000-1500 gram range as adults. Not 100% sure about Balls, but I'm sure they'd be a bit more. Don't forget any tare weights you have(weight of the container you will hold the animal in when you weigh it), add a 100 grams or so for that. Get something that will measure at least up to 2kg, preferably more.

Female BP's can obtains weights over 4500 grams. I would get one that goes up to at least 5000 grams, mine goes to 6000 grams.

Myweigh.com. The 6001t. I have two, they are superb. They weigh up to 6 kg, that's about 13 pounds. Won't need anything bigger than that if all you're weighing are corns and balls.
