Baby rat teeth problem

I have this baby which is so cute that I would either like to give away as a pet or maybe keep as a breeder although that may be a stretch :(
A couple of weeks ago my daughter snuck in my room and got into the cages and somehow broke its leg. She came in the room carrying it and I thought it was dead since it was limp apparently it had just passed out. so it was gettin better (so I had thought) and starting to be able to hold its self up better when I replaced the water bottle and she got her hand stuck between the plastic and the water bottle now her hand is all messed up. Then I noticed she wasnt growing and started to worry when I could see the bones in her tail :( I put her in a tank of her own so she wouldnt haveto battle for the food and yesterday I thought to look at her teeth. they were overgrown and starting to puncture her mouth so I took my scissors and cut them down. I checked today and it looks like there may be an infection there. Im tempted to try hydrogen peroxide since I think its non-toxic but of course Im out and figured Id check and see if anyone here has any better ideas aside from feeding her off.

Im not sure if I can cut the teeth any further but now they are growing in crooked. I feel so sorry for this gal that I would love to try and get her better any help or ideas would be wonderful at this point. PLease dont say the vet cause Im too broke and if it comes to that as much as I hate to do it Id rather feed her off since the bills keep piling in and there are other things higher on the priority list :(

The best bet for her since she has so many problems is to take her to a vet. And if you don't want to spend money to do that then put her to sleep. A broken leg, maybe a broken hand, she does have an infection in her mouth and I can gurantee that she won't be eating with her teeth growing crooked because it probably hurts.

well I shoulda added that she is eating now that her teeth have been cut, actually she instantly started chowin down right afterwards. Mostly on bread though I figured that would be easier on her to eat. Basically what I need to know is what to use for the possible infection.

I'm not sure about that. But if you are going to keep her as a pet you should give her a friend. (keeping pet rats alone can make them mean, and some of them go crazy, actually pulling out their hair and such) if you want to keep her as a pet pm me and I can give you a good website for pet rats.

If you are looking to treat an oral infection, the only way you can really go with this is through anitbiotics (oral, not topical). There are some natural treatments that are supposedly quite effective with some conditions, such as grapefruit seed oil, but I do not think this would be effective in a situation like this. I was told Oil of Oregano is highly effective in fighting off some infections in people (and was able to kill E. coli in tests), but I do not know if this is safe for rodents. Broken limbs are obviously causing some degree of discomfort, not to mention an oral infection. Also, with multiple injuries, her body is under increased stress and will have even less ability to heal itself. Personally, I think that veterinary attention is the way to go for this little one, and if you don't have the funds, I would just feed her off :(
