HOLY TAMOLE! Yah, in edmonton i think its supposed to be like -48C. Only a few degrees warmer. Everyone from the rockies west in canada seems to be freezing their buns off. Where's the cash for a trip to the equator when you need it:D? lol. Gotta agree with you Mark!

To think its cold down her in southern canada, immagine iqualit and tuktayuktuk and those places. If we are considered tough for handling this weather, the northern folks are like solid steel, i mean probably like -60C! Hah, Tim, you and my father have it easy(my dad is in brandon right now)! Lol. We're on the verge of death over here;)! Nah, i think we'll survive. I must, i have to keep my herps alive.
Yeah thats nuts eh I think it's gonna go down to 5 on the island tonite....... HaHa suckers:D

I went skiing in 3 degree fahrenheight but.. thats nothing compared to that wow. haha we got 4 inches of snow on sunday and our mayor went on tv a couple times advising us to stay home, just about every store closed down, car accidents were reported every hour and i've been out of school for 3 days :D :D gotta love living in the south.

Its funny that Chris mentions floodwaters as it just flooded here in Calgary the other day. Yep watermain break when its -30 C, sure glad it didn't happen on my end of town LOL it really caused problems when combined with the cold. Its also funny that he mentions TUK etc. (I got my TUK U t-shirt, been there done that, sleigh camps DOH!) because weather like this is the reason I quit working in the Artic. Heck I even had to plug my truck in last night. Guys like Derrick have probably had theres running for weeks straight now eh Derrick. Gotta love Fort Mac, NOT! Don't freeze them off people & now lets all join in prayer that the power stays on uninterupted, Amen! Mark

Ahh!! Thats nothin I lived in Whitehorse for two years and we had 3 weeks of between -47and -50degrees celcius weather and the windchill made in feel more like at least -60degrees celcius lol.
But still definately cold but that was 7 years ago.

Sometimes I think to myself "Why do I live in this godfosaken arctic tundra", and then a good chinook comes along, and Calgary shoots up to +10 while Edmonton is still at -20 and I say "Oh yeah, that's why!" :D
Hey Mark, it's pretty close to that here in Leader. Had to WALK to work this morning.

Here in the Sunny South Okanagan the snow is actually not melting today! I think it must be at least -1. BRR!
Nah, I feel sorry for all you guys. I don't think I could survive such cold weather! But I still hate winter, and can't wait for spring herping!

I've been saying all day "yeah, it's minus f**king stupid out there."
Was warm enough to start the truck this morning (no block heater so it's cranky at -3). the van is fuel injected and doesn't have as much issue with the cold.

GAH! I had to take the bus in this sh*t this morning, face almost fell off! Man, I'm so ticked off with this weather right now... Invictus and I had to sell our Nickleback tickets because we didn't feel that the concert was worth being out in -45 weather while walking over to the Saddledome from the C-Train station plus the 1/2 hour wait just to get in the door. Bah!

Bundle up, its gonna be a LOOOONNNGGG winter! Winter(and the snow) started so late last year, and it seems to have again this year. It seems around this time last year we had a coldspurt aswell? Does anyone in alberta remember(im not sure wether it was cross country or whatever)? Yah, all you guys down in the US, so lucky, you have houses compared to us and our igloos! LOL. Just kiddin, well i assume you all knew that. What sucks is we get cold weather(the extreme) then we get a d*mn drought. Well practically. It seems to be getting less dry in the summers but i mean seriously. I remember many years ago when the field at our acreage had 5 feet of grasses and alfalfa and stuff but last year, barely two feet.

Man... I can't even IMAGINE temps as cold as you guys are having... had my share of cold days while I was living in Toronto, but I don't think it ever got THAT cold!

I had a book of trivia by the author of the Encyclopedia Brown Mysteries (kids books) years ago. It mentioned that being outside in -40 degree weather for two hours could burn off a pound, just from heating the air that comes into your lungs.
Screw weightwatchers and build a snowman! :)
Invictus
01-29-04, 05:17 PM
I'm afraid that's incorrect. Being outside in -40 for two hours makes you GAIN weight when you turn into a human popsicle, hehehehe

I see that both you and Invictus are big COF fans, very nice. I love the band as well, just saw them a couple of weeks ago with Moonspell actually, and once again they played an excellent show i must say. And i agree, Dani is one crazy, tiny, demented f*cker.
Toronto is not that bad right now, -19 i believe...i still hate winter tho, it doesn't matter how much i try to get acostumed to it, i just can't learn to like it...

Heck, it's warm here in Michigan today. It's like 16 degrees out right now! Gotta love the warm winters we have here. I remember when I was a kid we'd get like 2 feet of snow all at once, now were're lucky to get a foot, and noone can drive in the snow. May as well stay home!

Hmmm...what gave that away? :p I'm really into black metal, industrial, dark wave, and goth; Invictus and I listen to a lot of bands that would potentially scare the crap out of most everyone's parents. *L*
You saw Moonspell eh? They were playing here with Opeth about a week or so ago, Invictus and I couldn't go as we both had to work. :(

LOL! I hear ya on that one, fortunately my friend's parents (including my own) have stopped giving me a hard time a couple of years ago, but for some odd reason people are still a little afraid of my room...hehehehe! (I think i may have too many The Exorcist posters and reptiles hanging around :D )
I'm going to the Opeth show on the 25th for sure, i think Devildriver is playing as well but i don't know too much about them...it should be a good show, Opeth and Moonspell are kick *** live...that's worth the money already.
What else are you guys into? I know that Invictus is into Zombie, i think i saw a pic of him wearing a cool Zombie shirt or something...
:D

We're both into Zombie, Tristania, Lacuna Coil, Zeromancer, Suicide Commando, Wumpsut, Sirenia, Skinny Puppy, FLA, BlutEngel, Funker Vogt, The Gathering, Dimmu Borgir, Children Of Bodom, Arch Enemy, Ozzy, Metallica (their stuff BEFORE the Black Album), Disturbed, Slipknot, Tanzwut, Static X, Fear Factory, Skinlab, Powerman 5000, Nightwish, Old Man's Child, Rammstien, Megaherz, HIM, London After Midnight, Razed In Black, Das Ich, Faith And The Muse, etc. Got an idea now? *LOL*

You mentioned Lacuna Coil, Zeromancer, HIM and Razed In Black...wicked.
That's good enough for me. With an Exception for PM5K and Disturbed, every single band that you mentioned i like.
*Cheers to you and Invictus for your excellent musical tastes!*
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
I caught the Funker Vogt concert in Edmonton last year. Very cool to see them live. <-- Industrial fan

Hey RedDragon,
How can you forget TOOL, Mud Vein, Manson, and groups like that........ And I thought you guys were cool.........LOL......j/k
By the way, has it warmed up by you guys yet...... It was like 40 in NY..........
Invictus
02-03-04, 12:41 PM
It has warmed up, actually! We got up to -17C this morning (that's about 2 degrees F). Going up today and through the week too. By Thursday we'll be above freezing.
And of course we love Tool, Mudvayne, Manson, etc. But I have very diverse taste... I listen to everything from opera to death metal, and almost everything in between. I'm chomping at the bit, because I'm going to see Sarah Brightman on the 24th!!! :D
JimmyDavid
02-03-04, 02:11 PM
Well, i knew they were getting big abroad but never payed much atention to them. Those Moonspell guys live almost next door to me. I promote shows but never worked with them...so far.
But hey, Evanescense is having a major gig down here (may, 30) and that one i would like to check (doubt that i will have a chance, with my weekends schedule).
Invictus, -17C is GOOD? hahaha, thanks for reminding me, now i'm sure i will NOT get my *** to Canada never again (err...unless i had a meeting at Montreal - Invictus knows what i'm talking about).
Take care.

Jimmy - It's only this bad in January, February, March, April, and sometimes May in Canada! :D
Seriously, you should check out a Calgary summer... +35 degrees and NO humidity at all! A nice, dry heat... it's sooooooo beautiful.
JimmyDavid
02-03-04, 04:31 PM
That's better. I was picturing a worse scenario.
Tell you what, one of these days i'll get myself in a plane and visit Calgary. (Not joking this time)
