Question on a wound

I have a question on useing liquid band aid (NEW SKIN) could it be use on herps? if not what could be used to seal a small wound

I am not qualified to give medical advice, so please keep that in mind, but depending on the type of wound, you might be able to use super glue. It has been found to heal paper cuts in people quickly, and is safe for that use, so it might be safe for use on herps as well.

isn;t super glue toxic thoe? maybe u should call your vet and see what they think.

Krazy glue is safe for people and disintegrates at the same pace as skin heals, however I would be weary to use it on herps. They are much more sensitive to chemicals than we are.

Why do you want to seal a small wound? As long as it stays clean, and if it is open, clean it and apply an antibiotic ointment, it should be fine. Letting it breathe is a good thing ;)

I think crazy glue was invented for sugery purposes during the vietnam era.

oh becareful with over the counter superglue, it has toxins in it. you want medical grade superglue.

New skin or Liquid Band-aid can be used on reptiles ..but for what purpose...if you have a burn don't use LBAid...if you have a gash then go to a vet..if it is a small cut/bite....use polysporin.

As others have mentioned, if it is only a tear of the dermal/skin layer, then an antibiotic ointment and keeping the wound clean will suffice. If however the wound is through the soft tissue, you will need to take your pet to a veterinarian to have the wound debrided and sutured properly.

NuSkin is the medical grade of superglue. it also degrades in water, so you can get it off. whatever you wind up doing, i would recommend (if you haven't already) removing the animal to a "sterile" tub, with a plain newspaper or paper towel bedding so that no cage substrate gets stuck in the wound. if you do use the NuSkin, make sure all bleeding is completely stopped, and that the treatment dries completely before returning him to his cage.
