Too Crowded?

Would it be safe or proper to house 1 male and 1 female BD in a 108gal tank, would any feeding issues arrise from food competition?

ya usually....and there could be a chance that the sightly bigger one each the other, thats just wut ive heard on theres threads, but if you can give them both the same amount of food, then it should be fine

I don't know where everyone is getting their info from.....here's our opinion on this matter.

It's fine to house a male and a female in that size tank together.
Just keep an eye on them and make sure that they are growing at the same rate, that they are almost exactly the same size (or if anything, the female slightly bigger than the male).

Also watch for dominance behaviours.....make sure that both are getting their share of the prime basking spot and the food.

Another issue to keep in mind....if kept together they will breed. Is this something that you have time for and want to get into? If not, then don't house them together.

I forgot to mention....

If you decide to keep more than one dragon in the same enclosure, you should still have an extra enclosure handy so that you can seperate if there are any problems. You should never wait to get a new enclosure until there is a problem. Have one ready and be prepared.

I agree I keep my male and female together all year round and they do great, but i also breed mine. Sometimes the boy gets pissy and doesn't want to share, but we do make sure the girl gets whats hers, and so does she. BTW that RARELY ever happens. Just make sure there is more than one "prime" basking spot. We also use 2 feeding dishes, so each of them has their own.

The one big thing besides breeding is, that if one of them gets a parasite you have to treat both of them for it wether or not the 2nd one has it or not. Since they were housed together.

I agree with ICULIZARD and drewlowe.

I know a lot of people who house their male and female together, just make sure that they are both 100% male and 100% female!

As far as breeding goes, if they do breed, you do not have to keep the eggs. If you cannot afford to raise baby dragons (which is an expensive thing to do!) then you have the option of freezing the eggs when they are lain. Make sure to supplement the female dragon more when she is gravid, and even before breeding. 108 gallons is PLENTY big for two dragons... the minimum for two adult dragons is about 75 gallons, I believe.

How old are the dragons you are considering housing together? Make sure they are both 18 months or older AND unrelated.
