A friend of mine has been trying to talk me into taking his bull snake. He has offered me $15 for food so I guess you could say he's paying me to take it. Well I finally gave in and yes, as soon as I get a job. So I wanted mostly to know, how does Pit care differ from corns and kings. I have a large cage, pleanty of aspen, I guess all I need is a couple hides and a water dish. I believe he said its about three feet long, so on a diet of 1-2 large mice/rats a week, how long will it take him to get full grown? Thanks for any helpful tips from all you experianced pit keepers.

Husbandry wise, not much different from a king or corn. Although a large bull would require more space than you'd give a corn. As for how long it will take for it to get full grown, well snakes never really stop growing but most of their growth stops after about 3-5yrs. It also depends on temp, quality of food, etc. Lots of variables.

We gave our bullsnake virtually the same care as the corns, but like Vanan says, much more room. Found them to be more active (especially more during the day), loved to bask, quite arboreal, much hissier especially during sheds and more in tune with seasons (persistently off feed during winter months). Can eat a lot and poop a lot more than a corn (even of the same size) maybe because they were thicker bodied than corns and seemed more active - always cruising the cage. Great snakes though - enjoy!!
