I know not to use sand, but has anyone here ever used or have an opinion on using substrates like Calcium based products like Calci-Sand (The company claims its digestable). I was thinking of using it but am worried about impaction and also over absorbtion of calcium(can they have too much calcium??)
Thanks

Calci-Sand is terrible for Bearded Dragons....they seem to like the taste and it increases your dragons chances for impaction. (We keep our adults on playsand and our babies on shelf liner)
The calcium is also an issue.....dragons need to be supplemented and by using calcium sand they can get way to much in their system. Dragons that are overdosed on calcium can end up with a lot of health problems.

Do not be fooled, it is no more then a marketing scam. I have tried it myself, and the calcium sand is not digestable. It costs a fortune and does absolutely nothing.

ok, no subrate is any good, sand bed a beast moss, cocnut stuff, shavings, paper towel news paper, etc the only things thats really good is what they have int he wild but, wild animals are no CB so they can take some impaction, but the best subtrate is paper towel. I heard storys were they eat paper towel even new paper, so thats why i say there is no right subtrate.....But i had a bearded and it lived on sand fine....but he was a sub adult, but no matter what age, sand is still bad. But if you getting a little guys use paper towel or new paper. i dotn like that stuff, so i take a risk, and use bed a beast which i fine, nothing has went wrong this is all in my opinion there are many many many more that are different from myne.....thanks
