does fluval filter feces as well...

I'm totally lost when it comes to filters but i bought a fluval filter step 3 for my 50 gal whihc only filled up acouple of inches for ym frogs anyways i was wondering excacty what it cleans because every time the defect in the water i usually take it out unless it breaks up and then i just change the water will the filter clean this for me or would i need a different type? I just want one that will keep the cage as clean as possible i hope i bought the right kind any help most appriciated

In my experience no. Faeces needs to be removed manually. My frog enclosures have an area that when full hold roughly 8 gal and a fairly heavy bio-load. I find the most effective filter for my frog enclosures to be a simple corner filter run by an airator (much better than the underwater filters i've tried).

To remove faeces and other debris just grab a length of plastic tube and syphon it away. To create a siphon take the tube to the bathroom and fill the inside completly with water (blocking the ends with your thumbs). Put one end of this tube in the water and the other end in a bucket. Now take your thumbs off and your siphon will begin. This is the easiest and quickest way I have found to remove the stuff.

As stated this is my setup and yours will be different depending on the volume of water and number of inhabitants but this is my routine. I syphon faeces off and refill water as required, then clean fortnightly to remove all debris and replace 50-75% of the water. Finally I replace the carbon in the filter monthly.
