Hogg Island info

Can anyone supply a good caresheet for these guys....Ive tried to seach for one but i got nuthin!!

They are the same as any BCI just shorter so thier adult caging can be smaller. I did a lot of digging before i got mine. If this is incorect some one will correct me but I'm pretty confident I'm right.

also I'm sure its Hog not Hogg. They are or were from Cayo de los Cochinos(Key of the Pigs) thus Hog. The havent been seen in the wild for a number of years.

yeah its hog but most spell it hogg. It's an affection thing.
keep them like other boas. Mid to high 80s for the dth and a few degrees lower at night if possible.

Yes one "G". I've never found it spelled with two Gs in any book. The only place I've ever seen it spelled with a two Gs is in the forums.

Actually i found it spelt Hogg in THe Boa Constrictor Manual by Vosjoli....its a good source of info on all boa constrictors and according to this hogg's just need a small cage since adult size is typically between 3-5 feet with som being a bit bigger.

I wouldn't expect it to be spelled incorrectly in that book. Oh well, if you look on any map, there is no Hog<b>g</b> Isle/Island.

Hogs care is about the same as a Colombian. I house mine in a 4x2 cage with a temp gradient of around 80-90 and humidity about 50% or so. You hear a lot of people say these boas are much smaller, but that isn't a rule. Average is about 4 - 5.5 feet, but females that exceed this are not uncommon. Below pictured is my 6.5' girl (in her dark phase).

Okay I looked it up in Vosjoli's book and its spelt Hogg on page 17 in the section selecting for docility 7th line down. But I looked through the book again and its spelt HOG at other parts....Its very confusing...but the correct spelling is Hog for sure now that I looked into it...looks like i just found a spelling mistake....LOL

People often confuse hungry with nasty. She's hungry, not nasty. She will strike through the plexi when I walk past if it's dark, or if she had recently eaten, and when she's in shed she makes soothing ocean sounds and like to show me her teeth...lol... but that's about the extent of it. She's never bitten me or even tried. Hogs by nature are always hungry, since food is especially scarce in their natural habit, it's instinctual to be ready for anything anytime :p :flick: She's definitely one of the more docile snakes in my collection. Only thing I don't really care for is the colour change, I wish they would stay light phase all the time, dark phase looks like they've ben playing in poop :toilet:

I like mine inthe dark phase and the light, she's a sweetie never growels or complains she's a pig though and is pushing that 6 ft at age three.
