Delirium

Alright, I'm looking for input from some of the experience folks here.
Hootie, our recent Leaf Turtle rescue, has got what looks like a mild case of shell rot. To describe it, his shell has what looks like divets in it, white underneath. He had an algae problem which we look to have beaten.
Now, this care sheet: http://www.turtlepuddle.org/health/shellrot.html recommends cleaning which were doing, also removal of any "dead shell" so to speak as well as disinfecting. Were holding off on the last two steps until we get further input. Has anyone successfully treated shell rot before? What were your methods? Does this care sheet seem valid to you?
Also, he was previously eating just turtle pellets. We've introduced him to meal worms, nightcrawlers and bits of fruit so far. He's only taken to the meal worms and last night it looks like he regurgitated a bit of them, about two days after eating. There was nothing that indicates a lung infection. Our assumption is that he just gorged a bit. Any input on this?
He was used to being sedentary in his old environment so doesn't move around much in his new cage. However, his eyes look bright and he seems to enjoy his light now.
We've got plans for the vet this week but mid-week is the earliest we can get an appointment I fear.
Any advice/input is appreciated.
