Welcome and congrats.
A few tips for the first timer...
Do your homework ahead of time, know the husbandry requirements and possible problems before you buy. (you are here...so that's a good start :) )
Buy and set up the enclosure before you buy/bring home the snake. It may take some time to get the temperature just right and you don't want to further stress the snake with improper temps.
Let the snake settle in for at least a week. It's hard to fight that "new toy" feeling and you will want to handle/play with your new snake right away. Although ball pythons are usually very calm...it is best to leave them alone for a while and then gradually let them get used to you.
Good luck and have fun.
