What are the pro's and cons of feeding rat pinks to corns?

Someone on here said that they are to high in fat, or something like that. Would it be ok to switch my corn from mouse fuzzies to something in rats of the same size?

Thank You For Your Information!

I always heard the opposite, mice are fatty, not rats. The only con I can think of is that a pinkie does not have the bone development yet of a hopper mouse lets say. I've never fed a corn a rat pinky but I've fed them lots and lots of fuzzy rats.
I've fed adult corns both rats and mice and the rat eaters are bigger.
Cheers,
Trevor

Thank you. Do you know when the bones begin to devlope in rats? There has got to be SOME bones in pink rats! lol........

Thank you for the info boidkeeper...:)
I am getting into breeding rats, my female looks like a walking tennis ball, and I seen that on a thread and I'm like "great, I've heard how stinky mice are, now I'm going to have to breed them for my corn!"

Thanks again.

Oh yeah they is a skeletel(sp) sytem in place when they are pink but it's not all that great. When they hit fuzzy size it's on par with a mouse I would say.
Personally I would rather feed an adult corn a hopper rat over an adult mouse any time.
Mice do stink:medpuke: The males are to blame.

Thanks again :) do you think it would be alright to feed my corn a pink rat though? With a "not that much" skelatal system? I know they need the skelatal system for calcium.

Personally I would wait until you can go with at least a fuzzie rat.

ok, thanks. :) about what size or how old are they when they are considered fuzzie rats?

7-14 days usually. At that age they weigh about 20g. I've got two corns coming out of brumation next month and rats is all they are going to get. My amazons are on fuzzie rats too.

Trevor

I feed my little hatchling rat pinks. I wouldn't be concerned with the lack of skeletal developement in pinks, their bellies are full of mom's milk which is loaded with nutrients and all the essential calcium ;)

Whew! Thank goodness, my momma rat is about to burst, she looks like a walking tennis ball....lol She built the most amazing nest I have ever seen (pet rat breeding for me, so she has the "proper sized" cage. It is littlerly almost 1.5 feet high, about 1.5 ft deep, and about 18 inches long.......And when I looked in there it was hollow! I couldn't believe it! Seems that when givin all the materials they want they will build some incredible nests!
