I'm setting up a new beardie enclosure and thought I might try the wheat bran thing. Where can you get a 25 pound bag and how much do they cost? The only place I've seen it is in the bulk food section at save-on. I don't remember how much it was, but I'm guessing it won't be too cheap to put enough in a 100 gallon tank. What should I do?
Oh, one other thing- I haven't heard too much about using ceramic tiles. What are the negatives?

Try looking at farm & feed type stores. Should be pretty cheap.

Most livestock feed companies sell it. It is about $10-$30.00 for a bag depending on where you buy it from

Hi There - I am assuming you are located in the Abbotsford area - you could try a Buckerfields store or Valley Feed Bag, they usually carry bran in bulk bags - much cheaper than Save-On Foods

I don't know how well ceramic tiles would work with beardies. Maybe if you had a beardie that didn't like to dig then maybe. I know mine love to dig, and make little wallows when they go to bed. So i will always have a substrate that they can do this in (unless their is cause for quarentine).
Everybody answered the other question, so i figured i would answer this one.
I also would go to a feed store, so much cheaper there. Bed a beast or eco earth at pet stores cost so much more... They have these huge bricks that they sell for 25 bucks and i can purchase the same exact thing at a feed store for only 9.

We bought our wheat bran from a feed store. We made sure it was baker's quality so that we know it's clean. We only paid $8.60 with tax for a 25kg bag.
Always go to a feed store first... it's almost always cheaper.

Glad you like it. Gets your attention doesn't it.
TRY your local feed stores and 1 more thing i would think twice about filling a 100 galon tank with bran oh boy thats a huge miss when the bran gets wet try using a smaller house for your dragons hope this helps.

Thanks for all the responses everybody. I will definitely go to a feed store first. I am in Abbotsford, so I'll try the ones you mentioned (DNA) - by the way - I bought my beardies from you! They are doing great! They have been doing ok together since I moved them to a bigger cage. I will be seperating them soon to help prepare for breeding season and to keep a closer eye on them individually. I hope to do business with you again and I will let you know what the babies look like from that female and the yellow male. You told me about this site too! Can't thank you enough for that one...

I will gladly think twice about it. My beardie's don't make too much of a mess with the water though. I give them baths once a week and they drink from their dish, but they don't splash water or anything. Do you think it will still be ok? Thanks.
