I've been looking at alot of pics of Mexican Milk Snakes because my pair seem to have a dark, almost wine color red to them. Does anyone know what the diference is between a Mexican Milk Snake and a New Mexican Milk Snake?
Pics of mine to follow.
Thanks a bunch.

Hi Brian, Mexican milks(annulata) vary quite a bit, with some having bright yellow bands, to white bands. There are also lines that have a tangerine pigment to the light bands, similar to apricot Pueblans. The red can vary alot too. Many are dark dark red, not as attractive. Some have brighter red like sinaloans..
there's quite a difference between annulata and the New Mexian milks(L.t.celaenops)...Celaenops usually has whiter bands than annulata. The triad count is also generally higher in celaenops with over 20 red body bands
Celaenops has a different ventral pattern also. The white bands widen as they cross the belly and the mid belly is usually void of white. With annulata the belly is mostly black but yellow rings cross the belly.
There are very few Celaenops, if any in Canadian collections, so it's doubtful you have celaenops.
You seem to be liking your triangulum , you might consider picking up the milk snake Bible "Williams systematics and natural history of the American Milk Snake"
Or Kingsnakes and Milk Snakes by Ron Markel(TFH, in petshops)
