View Full Version : spinning web around itself...
today i noticed that my spiderling has a thin web around himself...i've checked a bunch of sites on molting and i haven't found any that mention them spinning a web....there's also a little spike on his abdomen (at the very back), that i didn't notice before...what IS he doing??

The little spike is most likely his spinnerettes. There are actually two, but that may not be obvious at a small size. Anyhow, Ts will lay down a mat of webbing before they moult, so that is probably what he is up to.
Cheers,

I read somewhere that tarantulas actually have 6 spinnerettes.... please, correct me if I'm wrong!
Oh and I agree with Dave... he's probably going to molt soon. Cool, eh? I love seeing T's molt :)
