Hello everyone, I just can't seem to find the write snake I am looking for. I am looking for a snake that is gonna get 7-8 feet long. I already have a cornsnake so I dont want one of those. I am looking more for a good begining type of BOA or python. preferably a boa. Sorry for being a pain in the butt. lol well please help me out. thanks. I also want to buy from a1pythons.com so if there is a good begining larger snake on there thats gets to be about 7-8 feet long please let me know.
Would a Columbian Boa be good for me?
A Colombian fits your description perfectly :p There are many snakes in that size range that are ideal in terms of maintenance, but I think that's probably what your looking for. I'm looking through Henry's site right now and the only other snake I can see that would fit your description would be a Coastal Carpet.

I would have to say a carpet python of some type, a rainbow boa, or maybe a dumerils or hogg island boa. A male columbian might be alright but you probably want to wait for some more replies. Do a search for care sheets on google. This will give you a better idea of what each of the snakes needs are.

Hi,
When did you get your cornsnake? In a previous post you mentioned just a few days ago, maybe you should wait a little longer. Just in my opinion.
Yeah I was just thinking that too. Do you not like your new corn snake?

I love my Corn Snake and it's cause of my Corn Snake I want to start collecting snakes then breed them. But I still need to learn alot more about snakes first. Thanks for the help I will look up the caresheets of all the snakes you told me about. And ive only had my cornsnake for about 1 week I think. But I still want to get another snake all I have to do is look up many different caresheets about the snake I want.

There are enough people out there that breed them, Why don't you do rescue work? Maybe you should wait until you've had your corn for atleast 4-6 months. Have you taken your corn to the vet? Had a fecal done? Do you know how to quarantine. If not maybe you should spend 6 months researching an animal you want instead of buying one on a suggestion.
Just because you read a care sheet does not mean that you are prepared to take on the animal. Research for months, find out what kind of illnesses affect snakes, mites, internal parasites, what it eats (there are snakes that don't eat rats and mice), if they have to have alot of humidity or not alot,
I have come across care sheets that say brb needs only 60% humidity, while the breeders I talk to say they need atleast 80% humidity, and higher.
Just because it says something on the net does not mean it is true.
Just because I look up many care sheets on penguins doesn't mean I can just go buy one as a pet!
give it time. wait 6 months and see what troubles arise with the corn, if any. read all you can. go to shows talk to breeders, ask questions here like you are. do some rescue work like sapphire_moon was saying get a BCI that way. do you still live at home? if so what do your parents think about it, and what if you go to college? a corn you could probley bring but a 6-7 foot boa might be a problem. think about those things. It's just as important for you as it is for the snake.
just my .02 cents ;)
I agree with the last few posts. You should do all the research you can before jumping into anything, as it looks like that's what you did with your corn. Take your time, snakes aren't going out of style. Read, talk to people, read some more...
