Very interesting black/orange colours to that guy, he looks ready to go into shed though just going by the eyes. He has a big wide head on him too. I can't get over how rusty orange the marks on the head are extending forward from the eyes, my boa's marks are like a purple grey there.

Invictus- He's just over 6'. :) I was going to ask you (or someone who would know), he is 4 or 5 years old from what the previous owner stated, and I thought BCI's get just a little bigger than 6'. I know males can be smaller than females (which, it is a male), but is he done growing? I mean, he seems kind of "old" to be continuing to grow. Sorry, this is my first BCI, lol. :)

And I have to get used to how FAT of a head he has, compared to adult ball pythons, LOL! :D

That's another question, lol. Mousekilla- he actually just shed about 10 minutes before I took those pictures. His eye caps came off just fine, but I was wondering why his eyes are still cloudy. Any thought?

Not only that why are they dilated, like that? That just seems weird to me. I never noticed either of my Bci's eye looking like that even while in blue. Heck they don't even look like that when the day lights go off....What the heck? Jamie

Congrats on the new addition! I agree with Jamie, his pupils being fully dilated are of concern to me too. What happens when you shine a flashlight in to them? As for the growth question, the average is 6-8 feet for those guys. He could very well be done the bulk of his growth at 6'. Not as often, but certainly some adults will finish above or below the average as well. No arguement boas can attain some impressive sizes, but the majority I find stay on the smaller end of the expectation. Snakes will continue to grow pretty much their whole lives, but the bulk of your snakes growth is done if he is around 5 years old.

I shined a flashlight in his eyes, and they turned to slits.. So I don't think that's a cause for concern, is it? :-\

Maybe I should rephrase that... his pupils turned to slits, not his whole eye, LOL.. :p

That's definitely a good sign that they are not fixed, still I wonder what is the cause of them being fully dilated like that though? I've never seen a snakes eyes fully dilate before (they would have to be in complete darkness) :confused: Hopefully there is no minor brain trauma or anything.

Well, is that something the vet could figure out (if he has brain trauma of some sort)? I'm planning on taking him to the vet for just a routine check up sometime this month. He seems really healthy, he flicks his tongue, no RI symptoms, no stomatitis symptoms, no scale rot, etc....

A good, *experienced* reptile vet should be able to tell you if there is any reason for concern. Let us know how his general checkup goes ;)

Hey Jennifer, I wouldn't worry too much about the eyes going full dilate like that . My 10 foot , 70 lb female does that too. Especially at feeding time . When she's about to strike (at food) her eyes go black......... Cheers, Les
