View Full Version : full grown burmese enclosure
Just investigating into the future. What would you build a cage out of for a fully grown giant python or boa? I don't think you could just put glass on a track with a lock and the walls made out of melamine, could you? Seems to me that a large snake would have the strength to break something of that sort if it were interested to do so. So what DO you use to house such a snake? thanks

Just go to the gallery, and click on cages/enclosures. There are tons of cages there and you can email the people to see if/and how they made them. I think people just use a thicker plywood. and I think they do use glass.

I built my burm enclosure from 1/2 inch ply wood and 2 x 4 studs.

I seen someone on here build an awesome enclosure with a ledge in it, it was green. I couldn't find the pic though! I think it was either you T.O-Sk8ter or HetForHuman......but I can't find the pic or remember who did it!
we use 3/4" melamine and plexi.

my 8x2 enclosures are made out melamine with sliding glass and my 16ft burm has never broke out of it, depends on how you build it.

I can't see the pics........:( I thought it was you!
I got my baby boa a boaphile from Jeff Ronne, it is BIG and EXPANDABLE for larger type snakes like burms even some retics for a fer years. Its 4'x2'x17" expanded its 8' which is very nice for a burm. The cage I ordered is very pleasant to look at and easy to clean, ordered mine with locks head light and thermostat for $479.00 but he added double heat and expandable end free of charge. I would buy from him again if I ever need, only thing I didn't like was th fact that it took 3 weeks for me to get it, only 4 days once it was sent.
