My newest hobby! 1/18th scale micros! *pics*

Here is my latest addiction. First it was R/C planes. Then 1/10th scale offroad, to 1/12th scale onroad, and now.....1/18th scale onroad micro cars!!! And don't be fooled. This little car absolutley screams! Here are a few pics.

Sweet! Cool man! Love models! Don't have any of mine with me anymore. And the only one I've got now is half done (been like that for 6mths now!) It's an AH-64 Apache. Prefer the planes and choppers myself but always wanted to try cars someday.

My grandfather has been racing gas powered RC cars for many many years! And my dad builds RC airplanes ever since I can remember.

RC anything is awesome to play around with! The only problem with the planes is that a mistake is a waste of months of work! lol

I used to mess around with RC cars a little bit. I had a couple of off-road ones. My favourite one was a modified Tamiya Hornet - excellent little car!

Nowadays, I occasionally get the urge to build static models of WWII aircraft, which I've been doing since I was a kid. I have a collection of various marks of the Supermarine Spitfire in 1/48 SCALE.

That is a beautiful Spit! One of my favorite WWII warbirds...next to the Mosquito. ;)

My father built a 1/12th (I think) scale Grumman F8F Bearcat. He put about 2 years into it. It only has 8 flights. I'll post a pic a little later.

Dave; The Mosquito, a.k.a "The Wooden Wonder", was also a beautiful bird.
I was at a model fly-in a couple of years ago and a guy had a 1/4 scale FLYING model Mosquito! This thing is HUGE, and mean HUGE! I didn't get there early enough to see it fly, though.

The Bearcat was quite an aircraft in it's time. I believe that it was one of the fastest production, piston-engined fighters of all time. I'd love to see some pics of the 1/12 scale one.

I'll see if I can dig out some photos and post 'em later...

I think I know the plane you talking about. I believe it was built and owned by Norm McLullan of the Chatham Aeronauts. And yes, it is MASSIVE! I also have yet to see it fly.

It's an X-Ray M18. Very high quality racer. The components are made in Germany, and it was a very simple build. 4wd shaft drive.

YES, that's exactly the Mosquito model I'm talking about. It was so awesome that I nearly fainted when I first saw it sitting on the flight-line, lol!

The next in line is a nice Hawker Hurricane, and at the back is a Chance-Vought Corsair.
Apparently, some of the Mossie's components are made from plywood from the actual DeHavilland factory that used to produce the real ones during the war.! Now THAT'S a piece of history.
The builder really did an amazing job on it. It looks as though he machined and built the landing gear oleos from scratch, because they look perfect, and I have a feeling that he most likely vaccu-formed his own ****-pit canopy for it.
Just spectacular!

Do the 1/18 scale RC road cars have all the working suspensions, etc? What motors do you use - I seem to recall that the 1/10 scale ones used to use motors with numbers like 340, 540? It's been a while though, and the ol' memory's a bit foggy...
