Hi Aaron.
Those are burmese pythons, the 2 in the picture happen to be albino.
They are a very pretty snake, but they do get very large, (16 foot females weighing 150 lbs +) require large enclosures, and large food items when they get large (organically raised rabbits).
There are burmese python care books, but a search on google for "burmese python care" should get you started. Also, check the giant python forum on this site, there has been a lot written about them on there as well.
Also, if the picture was taken from a website, it is good to get permission to use it and to label where the picture was used from.

not only that but you were in the general forum looking for info on a corn snake. A burmese python requires MUCH more care and husbandry than a corn snake. We are talking about a 300% growth in the first year (like 6-8 feet I THINK.) and feeding rabbits, not rats when they get bigger.
A good rule is 1 person per every 5feet of snake. What do you think will happen if your 15 foot burm decides YOUR the meal and drags you into the cage, and I have heard they are EXTREMELY strong.
If you want some kind of boid try a cood Captive breed (From a BREEDER) Ball Python, childrens python or some other boid that stays under 7feet.
A burmese python is a HUGE step from a corn snake.

You might want to ask around, ball pythons are known for making their humans pull out their hair in frustration because they go off food. Ask around. I think people mention childrens pythons as good beginner boids, and rosy boas are a nice thick little snake that only gets about 3feet. Do a search on the internet or at the bottom of the forum for "good begginner snakes".
You might want to master the care of the corn snake before you get any more snakes though. Granted, taking care of a corn snake is nothing like taking care of a snake that can eat a rat that is longer than my forearm (head to tip of tail).
Personally if I was in canada, I would by from Jeff Faville (Jeff_Faville) (sorry if I didn't spell it right!) I have heard MANY good things about him, and he has the most beautiful pastel Ball pythons. He is a member here and if you do a member search you can find him, he has a website you can see what he has, I believe he sells more than ball pythons.....

Yea, Jeff has some awesome snakes. You spell it 'Favelle', though. Woudln't want you to not be able to look him up. Good luck in getting started with a snake, and if you have any questions, you know where we are!

If you're looking for a starter python, I would recommend the Spotted Python. Their care is remarkably similar to a corn, and they even get to be the same manageable size (4-5 feet), and have the same calm, highly tolerant disposition. Most often they are INCREDIBLE feeders too.

Thank you Oliverian, I thought I didn't spell it right, but I was so tired I didn't want to look it up!

I looked at Jeff Faville's webpage and theres really nothing on it. theres no price list or anything. Can you suggest anyone else that sells snakes in CANADA. Preferably in British Columbia? Maybe in kelowna or kamloops? Thanks for your time and effort to help me. I appreciate it.

Jumping from a Corn to a Burmese with a weeks experience is a HUGE jump. I would enjoy and learn from the corn, then spend lots of time researching before getting another snake. These are live animals, totaly dependent on you, not toys.

I would go with something small, like a rat, corn, king, or milksnake, or something of the like. Then graduate to something like a ball python or a green tree python, rainbow boa or common boa constrictor. Then move to burms. If you started with a small boid such as a childrens python, spotted python, rosy boa, or ball python, then i would reccomend going to something like i mentioned earlier, maybe a blood python. Dont start with a burm. GROW! GAIN KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:D! Lol, key word there, 'GAIN'! Good luck and let us know what you pick!

I'd just like to say I'm happy reading this thread. I've seen so many people post about getting the wrong kind of starter snake (usually something too big). Usually people reply back strongly trying to discourage the person from making the wrong decision and the original poster usually doesn't take it so well and ends up getting defensive and irritated with the suggestions people give.
I'm just happy this one went well =)

P.S. yes I agree DO NOT get a burm as a first snake =)
I've had snakes for a few years and I'd love a burm myself, but I know it's a lot of responsibility and I live alone making it an overwelming responsibility. Not to mention I don't have the room for one! =)

Yeah you guys are all write about me not getting a burm it would be absolutly stupid of me. I will try and learn as much as I can from all of you guys. Thanks everyone ive learned so much about snakes cause of all of you. I wish I could help you guys out someway but I cant. I guess I can help you out with Tarantula questions. cause I know so much about Tarantulas not snakes.
I wish I would have studied more about snakes before owning one but I was so bored of Tarantulas. All they do is hide in there burrows and eat crickets. But everyday I always come here to ssnakess.com and learn so much more. So thanks again everyone for all of the help and support.

I love setting up the snakes enclosures, and they hide quite a bit to. lol, as do my BP's....but I love them anyways. If you get bored with something becarefull not to neglect it, when you become bored with it the taking care of part seems to become a chore, not an activity that you atleast slightly enjoy.
I'm not trying to be rude. We all know that snaks are very addicting! lol

I would also like to say, kudos to snakebeginner for making a well informed choice. My post above, did not include the "don't get a burm for a first snake" tone, because that kind of answer doesn't tend to be taken well by a person who wants a burm.
You have taken the good advice given to you very well, and sounds like you were as smart as I hoped.
Goos Stuff!

saphire moon........I traded my tarantulas for my cornsnake and sold the rest. I never neglected them in anyway I loved those Tarantulas but, all they did was sit there and it got boring watching them after a long time of owning them. and i think snakes are way more active and funner to handle.
