Hi, varanophils

As I was kinda under the weather over the holidays, it became apparent that hand emptying and filling the Dumerilii Bathing tub twice a day was not the best method under the sun.

So, any ideas on what is a great way to set automatically clean and filter the water, I am not opposed to changing the entire way it is seen below even using a bigger or different tub and some sort of filter and drainage system.

You can see by the photos that there is a sink and water source nearby which may be utilized.

What are you all doing for a bathing system ...I am getting to old to do this by hand aswell. lol

What I have now

Hi Brian!
I'm in the same boat as you! I'm finishing my enclosure for my new pet...just kidding. And my biggest problem concern the bathtub. I put a drain and a water source near. Now i'm looking for a large water container. I will plug the drain in this container but i don't know where to find a big container to do it low cost, simple and effective. I'm also open to any suggestion... Thank's

Hey Chuck,

If your enclosure is still in the planning stages, and if its for the croc's you may want to consider one of those pre-fab ponds that ppl put in there back yeards, The pump and filter can be built in.

I've used old bathtubs plumbed directly into the sewer line with a valve to drain the water.

With the cages in the basement that I can not plumb a drain into, I use a sump pump, with a long hose that goes to the sewer drain - it is a much easier method of draining than others I've tried.

Iv used many drains on Rubbermaid’s and even glass tank's with a good valve, your sink who’d make an easy fix, I also use these commercial sink with a similar valve.
Filtering shod be ruled out with 3 Dumerils

So, What I am hearing is to skip the filter system (great) and just use a tub with a drain which can be attached to a hose with a valve, and lead it into the sink drain pluming.
To fill it I would just use a hose attached to the sink faucet. Great I can do that.

Just to double check, That tub is the corect size right,
and should just attach a drain, valve and hose to it?

Thanks Folks
Brian

P.S. Steve, how big are those Philippine Marmoratus, and are they available?

yes that tub is of good size, so is the sink in 3d photo, these I use a lot, there very convenient as they already have a drain and there bottom is designed for water drainage, I have to many to hook them directly, therefore I just make the drain exit the side of cage and service them with a bucket, the older you grow the smaller the bucket lol.

that marmoratus is 40in total, he’s the only one I have and just a few years shy of being 20 years old, its a shame I never found a female.
