I'm taking care of a friends Red foot tortoise for a few days so I thought I would post some pics. I am so tempted to go out and buy one for myself.
Anyways here's the pic...

Hello Sean, I don't mean to be rude, and I'm not trying to be a jerk, but your friend needs to know this. PLEASE tell your friend to STOP feeding that Tortoise corn and peas and other high protein, high sugar content foods!!! It is already substantially pyramided, and it is obviously still very young! If he keeps feeding it that way, he will end up with a VERY SICK Tortoise on his hands!!! I hope that you take my advice and my concerns seriously, because if you don't, you will be making a terrible and tragic mistake. Please tell your friend to email or PM me anytime, and I can help him create a proper diet for his Tortoise so that it will live a long and healthy life!!! I hope that you and your friend don't take this message the wrong way, but I am very passionate about Tortoises and Turtles, and I take their care and welfare VERY SERIOUSLY!!!
Take care, Johnny.

Hi Johnny. :)
I purchased the tortoise during the summer in the condition that it is in. I've been very careful to limit protein and the usual diet does not consist of corn or peas. The main foods for the tortoise were in a separate container and I offered Sean the bag of frozen vegetables to offer during the short period of my absence.
Billy generally eats collards, brocolli, carrot, romaine, occasionally a little bit of spinnach, occasionally the baby corn/peas/carrot mix you saw in the photo, and some pineapple, papaya, watermelon. I have only offered banana once. And I only gave her one little pea-sized amount of Iams canned cat food. I sprinkle Sticky Tongue Farms MINER-ALL (yellow lid) supplement on the food once it's mixed in the dish.
Oh, in the summer she ate a lot of dandelion in the yard.
I appreciate your concern and advice. I'm worried about pyramiding also. If you still think what I'm feeding her is contributing, I welcome a private message or a response in the forums with some ideas on what exactly I should be doing differently.
Thanks for the message.

Johnny,
It is great to hear that you care so much for the wellfare of these awesome creatures. I assure you that Beejay always does her best to provide a more than suitable environment and diet for her animals.
You obviously know what you are talking about and if I do choose to purchase a tortoise I will know who to go to with my questions and concerns.
Thanks,
Sean
