This is our resident psycho, an Eastern King our daughter named Nightstalker. I call him Manson though because this is the thanks I get for changing the water for him (which oddly enough he's nice enough to use as a toilet almost everytime). He doesn't like anyone but he especially hates me. This guy has erased any doubt in my mind that snakes can distinguish individual people. I shouldn't call this snake "he" or "she" because I can't get a probe in to find out one way or the other, he's just too nuts to work with so far.

Easterns are such incredible kings - especially when they get to full size. Too bad this guy is such a handful - really pretty,

Actually I find this guy really entertaining.lol! I like having at least one snake that acts like a vicious monster... even if he's only about 4 feet long. Up until recently I've made no effort to tame him, but now I want to find him a mate so I've employed the use of a pair of leather winter gloves and I'm handling him every few days. I don't want to turn him into a total suck like some ball python but I need to get a probe in there one way or the other. The last attempt was smelly and unsuccessful, even with two men and a pillow case. Of course I would thrash and bite and stink too if you tried to ram a metal rod into my naughty bits.

ROFL!
Sounds like my albino CalKing. NOT a fan of humanity. Likes to spray us like a fricken fire hose if we startle him. :)

Do they spray throughout their lives or do they, as I have been promised, grow out of it as they get older?
Most grow out of it. Most. Some retain the temper they had as hatchlings, but really rest assured that with lots of handling you will most likely have a very "trustworthy" cal king for the most part. They get more calm as they age for sure in most cases.

Marisa, that is very reassuring. Thank-you.
