my uncle found a tank in a dumpster and he asked if i needed it for my reptiles, told me it was a pretty big square aquarium, no cracks or any thing but no top. i didn't get to see it till over the christmas break. its alot bigger than i thought. its about 4 feet by 4 feet and maybe 2 feet tall. i'm thinking this will be perfect for my savannah monitor. he wont be needing it soon, hes still tiny and sadly, he has parasites which are stunting his growth, barley growing at all sence i got him months ago. my uncle said he'll make a top for me, but do you think its big enough?

Hey,
An adult savy would need a cage at least 8x4x4 and alot of dirt to dig and bury in.

Thanks,
Ben

I disagree with that...I know many people who keep savs, who know what there talking about, keep savs in enclosures that are 6 feet by 2 feet by 2 feet and even 5 feet long. Plus urs has a stunted growth so she probably wont need such a big tank. Im pretty sure the rule of thumb for the length is double the length of the animal. Average 3 feet, 6 foot tank. If you get a giant or a "midget" then the tank sizes change.

Well it will be GREAT for now. If it does end up getting over 2 feet long then graduate her to a bigger tank but otherwise its fine.

Chris

Also, have you taken you sav to get deparisitized?

yes chris, the sav has been to the vet, took a fecal sample and they told me he was loaded with parasites (hundreds of eggs in the fecal) so he gave the sav a bit of dewormer meds and i had to give him another drop after 2 weeks and now i have to take another fecal sample to him.
