Looking for a new species to try and I think these guys look gorgeous! I've read a few caresheets, but am wondering if you experienced hognose herpers have any advice to give (that might not be in the care sheets) based on experience? Anything to expect or be prepared for with these guys?

Also, I'm a bit confused on the size of housing requirements for a hognose - probably male, but might go with female. Can an adult live in a 15qt sterilite (11wx17lx6h) or would I have to use a 32qt sterilite (16.5wx23.5lx6h)? I'm looking to use a rack that uses a combination of these 2 size tubs. I was hoping to find a species that could go in the 15qt (already plan to house some sand boas in some), but if that's too small for a western hog I'll use the 32qt.

Thanks in advance!

That size would be fine. I breed mine in large kitty litter size pans. Males stay quite small. Big females are 3 foot, but usually smaller. I also have sand boas, and rosy boas in the same size rack.
I'll send you a link to my gallery..I can't post it here
