View Full Version : legs
i was watching this animal planet special on snakes and it said that i forgot which but either boas or pythons have internal legs (skeletal structure) left over from evolution or something. Thought it was pretty neat.

Most Boids have had vestigial limbs from the early-mid Cretaceous period(200 -100 million years ago when earlier before that they started to loose their working limbs. They then started to take on the"snake" appearance as they do now. If you watch a boa while trying to mate, the 2 "claws" spurs move about in a circular pattern, it is quite interesting movement which might show that these had a greater use somewhere in the distant past.
