I'm thinking of getting 2 cresties, a male and a female, or 2 females. I have a 20 gallon high right now. Could they live in there their whole lives, and will a crestie do okay with just the CGD diet with mixed baby food?
Thanks

if you could get them to eat the CGD it is supposed to be a balanced diet, but even the maker, Allen Repashy feeds crix to his, as well...I think you would have to moniter the health of your cresties and see if they look or act stressed out.. they might do ok in a 20 high, but i would make sure there are many hiding places..Good luck..

I know with leos you can't put 2 males together, is it the same with cresteds?

Yes, the same is true. Putting to males together will result in fighting and tail loss. However, I have read that if the enclosure is big enough, you can house 2 males together but there still is a good chance of fighting and tail loss.

i still wouldnt do it. its not really worth the risk. but 20 gallon high should be the minimum but as long as you have enough hiding places for them they should be fine.

I raised up two Cresteds for about 5-6 months on CGD and they seemed to look very skinny compared to the ones that I feed a lot of crickets to. It almost seemed cruel to me, so I stopped that and started feeding them crickets. I think they should at least get crickets 1-2 times per week, bare minimum. That's not to say that they won't survive on CGD alone, but I like my animals to be in prime condition.
As for the 20 Tall, that should be fine for a pair of Cresties, but I wouldn't add any more animals to the cage.
