I may be getting a WC snake over the next few days and I'm sure she'll be filled with parasites, so I'm going to treat her with panacur. I have a few questions:

- is 50mg / kg a good dosage, or should i stick with 25mg?
- how often should i treat her, and how many times (ie 2/week for 2 weeks)
- is it okay for me to treat her without getting a fecal? it's my understand that it's hard to harm an animal with panacur, but i want to make sure
- can i inject it in food without having it lose it's effectiveness?
- if i can't, how would i go about giving a big, agro snake a dose of panacur?

I think that's everything!
Thanks

I always administer fenbendazole at 100 mg/kg, I've never even heard of anyone using a dose as low as 25 for snakes before  I adminster it via tube or injecting it in to the feeder once, and then again in 2 weeks. It would still be a good idea to get a fecal done since fenbendazole may not eliminate ALL the parasites/protozoa that that snake may be harbouring, although you wouldn't need to get a fecal done in order to treat the snake with fenbendazole.

Yeah, I was planning on doing a fecal after the treatment (as opposed to before and after).

Well, I red 25-50 and 50-100, I thought 50 would be safe. But I'll go with 100! Thanks!

I'd hit them with 100 mg/kg or Panacur (Fenbendizole) as well as 100mg/kg of of Flagyl (Metronidozole). Minimum of 2 dosages (1 dose every 2 weeks) and a Maximum of 3 dosages (1 dose every 2 weeks). I'd also spray them down with Nix as a precaution for mites as well.

Good luck,
Corey
PS Keep them hydrated.
