Main reason I'm posting this pic is to show people some of the damage an ig can do to even an experienced handler. This is a very mild bite, and it was my fault. She bobbed, and did her aggressive body language, I ingnored it and reached in to grab a piece of shed that was partially coverring her eye. 100% my fault.

Yes it hurt.
Yes it bled.
Yes, the jagged marks are the teeth imprints of a 42" large iguana.
Something to think about for those thinking on the cute lil iggies you see in the store.

omg man that sucks!
Wow very lucky! At the vets once an iguana in before us (who was not even Roxys size) bit the top of the vet assistance finger off.
They can cause serious, serious wounds. Thanks for sharing the photo!

Yes, even iguannas need respect.

I got this bite form our 4 foot iggy.when i was sitting a chair with him on my lap. All was fine and then i felt a sharp pain in my leg i looked down and all i could see was the iggys mouth clamped down on my leg. (That is the first time our iggy has ever bitten)
Well you work with animals sooner or later it is going to happen. :D

I definately think mine could have been so much worse.
Honestly (yah I'm morbid but thats besides the point) I like to see people posting bite pics. Then, MAYBE, just maybe, if new owners or people wanting an ig, would at LEAST research and learn first instead of getting one then either
abandoning it in the wild,
having it seriously injure them, friend, family, anyone
or what I just had occur, is seeing someone put down a fairly young(3yr old) ig because it was aggressive.
Bottom line: ig's are wild animals. Always will be. Injuries can happen. Very serious ones at that.
Scotty and Les(I'll ask this in a diffrent post as well) can I have your permission to save your pic ( i will put your name, or whatever you chose) on it? I would like to get a collection of them to show to people who need to learn about them. I am going to put them all on a disk, then on a webpage(eventually).
Thanks.
