Yes, assuming they do breed successfully you could inject the amel gene into the Hog line and then raise and breed the hets to produce Amels, but keep in mind it could take a very many generations for them to actually take on the favourable attributes that hogs exhibit, including the small size. Any crosses would always be considered mutts, just like albino grey bands, and pyros, which are still basically ruthveni in the minds of purists.
Just to answer your second question, if you bred two hets to each other you'd get (in theory, if, as Roy said, you could get the hogs to exhibit the trait):
1/4 albinos
1/2 hets and 1/4 normals (but since you can't tell them apart, 3/4 66.6% hets).
Zoe
They would always be mutts!!
Look what happened with Indians pythons and is happening with diamond python x whatever they can breed them with just to make a buck. You got to keep the blood lines pure as you can.
Think, if you do breed them and get 10 babies will you keep them all? if you sell them can you be sure that they won't be breed to other boas? It get comlicated.
I know a lot of b.c.c and b.c.i have a little mix in them from the old days, but we should try to keep the lines pure as we can Hogs are/might be gone in the wild, so we all should make sure they stay pure.
I know I sound Preachy lol

Hogs are beautiful already. I think making them albino would ruin all their delicate colours rendering them into just yelowish orangish snakes. None of the blues and greys, that give good contrast.

I'm in total agreement with Piers. Neither of us support or encourage hybridizing, but that wasn't Mike's question.

ty for your opinions
let me start by saying that i never said i would do this it was a hypothetical question.
i dont know where i stand on the hybridizing question.
id much rather just breed my albino to my salmon than breed my albino to my hog
i was just curious as to see what the views of others would be on what an albino hog would look like ?
im thinking it would be a pretty orange snake without the irridescence of the hog and maybe keeping the smaller size of the hog

Where is the hybridizing? If the albino boa is a Bci...then it lies in the same species.... Basically all your doing is mixing two seperate locales. Hoggs are just simply gorgeous as they are. I agree that they have a unique look all their own.

There have been rumours of giving Hogs their own subspecies status, which I believe they have a right to. They may not be technically hybrids since both are BCI, but it is a terrible shame to outcross them with other locales. They are extinct in the wild, so all we have left is the captive stock... we need to preserve it the best we can or we will end up not having an pure stock left :(
