What you're wanting to get into requires a reputation. I wouldn't be to inclined to buy a tape from some shmoe that I've never heard of. I would be inclined to buy something like a DVD (who uses tape anymore) from some one like Bob Applegate (on king snakes), Bill and Kathy Love (on corn snakes) and Dr. Bryon Fry (on venomous) just to name a few. These people are experts in their respective fields and have reputation that's world renown.

Now I'm not trying to be mean or anything but I wouldn't buy them from some kid who hasn't really done anything in the world of herps and is basically regurgitating the information they've learned from care sheets.

I would only buy tapes to learn from if they were made by someone in the industry who has proven they know their stuff and has educated, informative and innovative ideas.

Not to mention the info must be stuff we don't already know. I doubt many of us would buy a corn snake care DVD. Now a video on how to milk cobras and sell the venom- that would be a hot seller:-)

Good post Lisa, I agree.
I think that DVD's, videos etc are a wonderfull teaching tool for people in and out of the herp community, but I do agree that haveing new info and a recognizable name is also very important.

I did buy a tape and book on lizard taming few years ago.
Pretty good stuff,most of it...I think the woman had advertised it in the back of a reptile magazine.
No professional credentials,just a love and respect for the herps.
Of course you do need to have knowledge and just as importantly the experience to back it up.
