i've been bit handling one of those enormously frightening 5 inch leopard geckos. those things'll be the death of me.....

thats what i thought, mine was having the blue and i was changing his water, i reached in there and i had to move him a little and he just struck me, hes always been docile...i think it was just the blue that caused it due to stress.as for the nile hes always been a devil since i got him....

Working with snakes means getting bit. It's law of averages and It goes with the territory. The longer you keep, and the more you keep the higher the odds of being bit.
I've been bit hundreds of times, by hundreds of herps, but then I've worked with hundreds of the things for years....
Been bit by all the so called tame snakes too.
Ball Pythons, corn snakes, rosy boas,Kenyan sand boas, even Eryx Johnii...everything really except I've yet to be bit by a rubber boa, but I'm sure the day is coming.

Nothing to be proud of, but been bit by snakes and monitors, not to mention cats, Great Danes and horses. Fortunately, no permanent damage. The ability to read the animal, and much faster reflexes, has kept this from happening for some time now.

Only once by my spotted python when she was young. And I had been free handling her food prior so I was the idiot lol

i have been bit too many times...
I've been bit by quite a few wild snakes (garters, rats, and racers) The only real bites I ever got were from a 9ft burm across the hand and a 13ft retic on the elbow. Those two I'll never forget.

I've been bitten by lots of things- not as many as Roy (maybe not even Jordan as he seems to have a knack for getting bitten:-)), and nothing on my list would compare to Chuck's!

I've been bitten more times than I can remember.
I got nailed by a 3' gator which had quite a grip but the worst bites have definitely been from monitors...niles and waters.
They've got a great grip, razor teeth and a tendency to slice rather than merely puncture by pulling their teeth through your flesh once they've got you.
I've only been permanently scarred by one though...medium sized water monitor.

I've been bitten by alot of herps, I think the two worst were a 5.5 ft Nile (required hospitalization) and a 14 foot rock python.
But I seem to get bitten alott from the line of work that i do. I'd bite someone too if some moron let a mouse chew on my spine or broke a beer bottle on my back. ( a little venting, sorry)
But I think those two were the most memerable
Thanks

hmmmmm.
bearded dragons: it was a love bite LOL. Was hand feeding and it missed the food and got my finger. Pinched but no blood.
iguana: coulda been worse. It was a warning bite.
Haven't been bit by either of my snakes but wish the BRB would hurry up and get it over with so I'm not so jumpy LOL.

Once I was bitten by my roughneck monitor, who happened to have climbed up the outside of my siberian chipmunk's cage and was trying to eat him! She only got the tip of my finger thank goodness, and it was actually rather hilarious: this happened on the night of a first date with a guy I'd just met and he witnessed all this take place -- the funny part was, he was freaking out and running around like a chicken with it's head cut off hollering, "OH MY GOD!!! Are you alright?!?! OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!" LMAO
Needless to say, I gave him the boot soon after (what a geek) and also needless to say, I haven't let my monitor roam around in the same room as my chipmunk ever since! (duh)

one of my 8' boas hit me with a feeding response. Surgery and 6 weeks of rehab to make my wrist work again. A few other but that was the worst by far. Fast hands and never going to be bit, lol, thats fuuunnnnnny, keep dreaming.

I have been bitten by hundreds of herps (and other animals).
A 7' colombian boa struck me in the face, an 8' anaconda bit me on the thumb and started to tork while it constricted my arm for about 10 minutes before I managed to pry it off (PAINFUL!), a 4.5' american alligator bit my hand and started to roll (my fingers were twisted out of shape for almost a week, but luckily there was no major damage due to a friend holding the animal so it couldn't keep rolling), a 3.5' argus monitor grabbed my middle finger and sliced through the nail to the bone (I bled like crazy), a copperhead nailed me with both fangs on my right pointer finger. These are just a few of the bites that immediately come to mind.

I have our boa's striking food on film. our camera does 24 frames a second. it took our boa's only one frame to strike and bite and another 2 frames to pull back the prey and start constricting. thats right, the boa was able to strike in 1/24th of a second. that's fast, probably alot faster then most people. thats why we use tongs and forceps when feeding the snakes. hell one of our bigger boas gave me a warning bite and it hurt. there was no escaping that one (except not approching from the front)

never been bit, it probably wouldn't hurt so much as scare(sp?) the sh*t out of me
I have been bit by heeaps of herps...15ft Olives 12ft waters, varnids, carpets, the worst bite I have ever had was by the biggest blue tongue I have ever seeen it was soo big!!!! my finger was swollen for over a month afterward and it hurt to touch my left hand. but the thing I hate most about bites is sometimes when they are healing they get really itchy!!!

nope never been bitten (knocking on wood with one hand while I type this with the other). I'm sure my day will come, part of the hobby I guess. Until then, im still a virgin. Well..wait..you know what I mean. :)
Ive been bitten a few times. Most painful was from a diamond carpet python that got me right on the face. That was a little discomfort. I did not even see it coming.

Haven't been bitten by much and I'd love to keep it that way, but with all the different animals that I work with both at home and at work, it's bound to happen more often. I try my best to avoid situations that provoke bites. I've only been bitten by the following: prairie dog (hurts more than you'd think), various geckos, almost every hamster I've ever met, mice galore, and rats of all sizes. Come to think of it, I've been bitten more by mammals than by reptiles. Hmm, interesting considering I work a lot more with reptiles.

So what hasn't bitten me?? Given enough animals and enough time I think every one will get bit. Plenty of snakes- the worst was a 9 ft retic that nearly took my thumb off. Lesson learned. My female Brazilian Rainbow Boa hit me once and she's got lots of needle teeth. Lizards- Tokays, water dragons, leopard geckos, chinese crocodile lizard (ok, that was my fault hand feeding him), tail whipped and scratched by a pissy male iguana etc...
Rodents are worse- rats, squirrels, hamsters, gerbils, those bites always seem to get infected even after cleaning them out.
Parrots- Argh! I love them but had one that thought it was cute to bite me in the face. OWWW!
And of course the dogs, cats and ferrets...
Best bite i ever recieved was probably from my largest savannah broke almost all of my fingers, left em black & blue, lost fingernails, cracked nails it was a brutal bite. Purely my fault as well.
I dont think any bite matches a monitor, espeacially african species, their jaws are insane!!! My burmese python bit me, didnt hurt me nearly as much as the monitor.

I once had a tokay have an identity crisis and want to be a goatee, planting himself on my chin for about 5 min. The fun part was explaining to my friends where the red ring on my chin came from.
Also , after my burm ate 3 rabbits, she had one more to go but would not eat it , when i reached down to pick it up she decided to munch on my hand instead, having 1/2 of my hand down in her mouth, OUCH!
