Hey all..quick question

I received a burm about 3 weeks ago, he is eating small rats just fine. In the 3 weeks I ve had him, per a family emergency I have only been able to handle him a few times....in those time...he hisses like mad in his cage...i use a hook to get him out and then he stares at me then...BAM...bits and pisses all over me..will he grow out of this?

Thanks

How big is he? With more handling it shoud grow out of it. Try, from the youngest point its at, to keep handling as age progresses. For the pee part, its probably nervous and is musking, as a defence mechanism. Good luck!

probably it will get over that when he starts to feel safe with you. When you handle him don't hasitate when you pic him up. Try not to feel scared to get bitten. In my oppinion snakes feel that and when you hasitate to pic him up he will be most likely to strike.

When you handle him often he will get used to you so he won't strike at you or piss over you :) Hissing can also go away allthough my snake sometimes hisses at me when she just doesn't want me to tuch her. Just handle him easy and let him feel safe.

Do not worry about a thing. We here at The Slither Box! own 5 burmese pythons and all of them grew out of the striking and hissing when they got around 4'. So don't worry, they will grow out of it.
