I have a challenge to all herp breeders out there. Since we make a profit off animals, why not give something back. So I challenge you all to make a donation to an animal or environmental conservation fund. I made one to MAMPAM.They do research and conservation with herps and other small neglected stuff. They also do a lot of research in africa where it is suggested the pet trade has made an ecological impact.

It does not really matter to whom your donation goes to, just that one is made. I think it is important we do this as it is the right thing to do and within our hands to do. I also feel it will help with the bad light herpers and the pet trade are always cast in. You are all educated enough about how we are destroying life on our planet at an alarming rate without me going into a tirade about it. So pry open your wallets, crack the safe, and smash the bank and donate. Hell, if a cheap jerk like me can do it, anyone can. If you find it in yourself to do this please post it to keep this thread going. Thanks, Don.

I donate to this and that charity during the year, all over the place really lol.

But there are lots of things to do that help out animals that don't cost money as well. Try going to your local SPCA/private shelter/pound and taking a few of their dogs for a walk. It can take less than a couple hours, if that and you help out both the shelter and the dogs.

There are also lots of websites that let you click each day to donate money. Sure it might not be alot but if tons of people are clicking each day and you do it year round, it can add up.

We have numerous charities that we support with a generous portion of our yearly profit.

In the past we have supported PIJAC along with the children's wish foundation along with some other smaller ones.

I have all our buisness names in all of the local and surrounding vets for any vetclinics that might have animals that they can not deal with brought to me .. I have to pay for meds, cages, heating all that lovely stuff that goes along with rescuing this is my form of donation does that count? We have had many many calls over the last year where the clinics would have put these animals down if not for us taking them in :) And we are quite happy to do it :) :)
Merry Christmas

I've worked for the SPCA. Enough volunteering for the dips***s that run it! lol!

I personally refuse to support the SPCA, because of their refusal to do ANYTHING when herps are being abused. Maybe they should call themselves the SPCCFA - Society for the prevention of cruelty of cute and furry animals. But, we all have our own guidelines with regard to charities and such. I'm personally going to be joining PIJAC in an effort to make sure that we are still allowed to trade and sell our herps to make money for other charities, lol

Ken,

Not all SPCAs are the same. I'm meeting with the animal control officer in the new year to discuss ways in which I can help him and the SPCA. He has the PJAC reptile course and is interested in learning more. The SPCA in my community has never turned down a herp, or so they tell me.
Cheers,
Trevor

Regardless how I or you feel about the SPCA I personally don't see that as a reason for myself not to volunteer to walk the dogs there for adoption. It's not their fault how the organization is run, and that's a good way to spend my time IMHO. And that's why I added it to this donation thread.

These ppl want to help but they just do not know how we have to teach them understanding this is where I get most of my rescues from.

I personally drove to everyone I could find to give them my information so they could call me instead of the alternative
