View Full Version : gifts for pets?
I was just wondering if any of you actually get christmas presents for your pets? Everyone thinks i'm weird when i bring home silkies for my geckos or a special hide box for my snakes. Am i the only weirdo? :)

Yep.
See this thread http://www.ssnakess.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33048
I used to get little things, but it's just too expensive for a collection my size, and snakes are too hard to buy for :p, so its only the warmblooded pets that get xmas presents anymore. That's ok since they are the only ones that will appreciate little treats and things anyways :)

i think the concept is kinda lame.....sorry, i just dont see buying a present for an animal that doesnt recognize me, let alone the concept of time and holidays. i just buy them things when they need it like a new hide, lights, cage etc. or new mice and things when my cats loose them, or are just worn out.
oh BTW PLEASE DONT DRESS YOUR ANIMALS, THEY DONT LIKE IT AND NEITHER DO I

My snakes aren't pets.
i'm geting rid of all my aquariums and buying nice plastic stackable cages for my snakes and a uro, a big cage for my monitor, big cage for water dragon and probably new cages for my amphians and all new stuff to put in the cages like nice box boxes and water bowls instead of food boxes and tubber wear contianor bowls. it really isn't for them because its xmas, i'v been planning on geting them all new stuff but i'll be geting the money to buy it all for x mas =)

They won't eat turkey so my snakes get a nice big thawed out mouse or rat!! wow eh!! :)
My monitors enjoy turkey.. thats about it. They actually REALLY enjoy turkey.
My cats dog and rats are the only ones that appreciate treats and toys, too many rats to give toys to.
If I buy my snakes something, it is more for me than anything else :p Something like a new water bowl that is deeper and heavier so they stop knocking it over at night, etc. :D
Snakehunter- it's all in good fun, man.

A lot of people get joy from giving their animals presents. There isn't anything lame about one-way situations like that. I love all my reptiles, even though it most certainly is not reciprocated; I talk to my snakes all the time, even though they cannot hear a word I'm speaking. As long as the animal isn't being affected negatively, and that the keeper does not mistake the animal for what it really is, then there is really no harm.

my snakes are all getting brand new home made custom enclosures this year ...............
LOL, thanks for all the replies everyone! And thanks for sticking up for me and the rest when it comes to people thinking we're "lame" Oh well! I get enjoyment out of doing it, i guess that's all that matters! And i would never dress my snakes or reptiles up...can you imagine! They'd be so pissed off they'd refuse food for a week! ;) Hehe! I hope everyone has a happy holiday, along with your "pets" or whatever it is that you call them! lol

I usually buy gifts for my Cat, last week i bought her a variety pack of toys for her to chase around...i even wrapped it! She'll probably wreck them before the year is over but still...

My cat goes nuts with it! Of course i have to throw the entire package around for her to pay attention to it, but once she starts bitting into it and the paper starts to rip she goes all out...it's the cutest thing in the world!
Pets are great.
:D
lol, my cats use to play with all the wrapping paper on x-mas day! we use to pile it up and they'd jump in it! That was there prsent and i think they looked forward to it when they saw the tree and realized what time of year it was! lol, too cute!

I buy Christmas gifts for my dog and cats, but not for my reptiles. And my dog at least certainly appreciates them. And I think even the cats do. :)

Our cats used to love climbing and sleeping in the tree about 4' up... as for presents for them, we just got lots of toys that had catnip in it, and they went ballistic removing the wrapping paper..
I was tempted to put a santa hat on my savannah... but knowing him, he'd try to eat it.. i got a temp gun at the last show, and as i was temp-gunning his enclosure, he walks up to investigate.. nexxt thing i knew, i was prying it out of his mouth.
Merry christmas to everyone.. and their pets.

i gave my BP a 55 gallon for Christmas.
My snakes get nothing. When they greet me at the door after work, then I'll consider it. My dog however, will probably end up with more gifts than both my Fiance and myself...
Only way my cats would dig into the wrapped presents is if they had catnip or food. one of them is very good at unwrapping food.
the dog on the otherhand is likely to eat the whole package if it smelt like food.
