Would anyone happen to know how long the human body can operate without food? Does it depend on pre-existing body mass?

the bible has Jesus without food for 40 days, other hunger strikes have surpassed that(100+days) fluids/hydration are the more important factor.

Interesting. Physiologically, is there a point at which the body starts to turn against itself?

from the start emerson, the body starts consuming it's 'reserves' as soon as it starts taking in less than it needs, hence the fat reserves.
