just keep offering rats, dont give in and give him mice. hell figure it out sooner or later.
or shave a mouse and sprinkle the hair on the rat, this works sometimes, and mouse feces works good too!

LMAO never heard that one, but if it works it works.
The way that has usually worked for me has been to scent the rat with a mouse, rub the mouse all over the rat to get the mouse smell on him, or if you breed or have live mice try rolling the rat around in the mouse bedding, then give the rat a quik rinse. or as snakehunter said rub the rat in a little mouse feces.
Good luck.
I tried rolling it in my mice tank and it didnt work :/

Are you dangling it in front of him? I find that with my Ball that I dangle it in front of him, he will strike at it but won't coil untill I drop it on the ground. So usually I let him strike once or twice and then I drop it and he coils around it.
Try it all, and if all else fails, as someone said, just feed him rats, he'll get hungry enough to eat it eventually.
Soemtimes my guy doesn't want to take them. I finally figured out what he wants - the head to be hot! After I thaw it and bring it upstairs to my herp room, it's a little cool. So, I run the head of the rat under some hot water upstairs for about ten seconds and dangle it in front of him. Worked like a charm. Hope this helps.

hmmmmm brain it, dip it in chicken broth, sprinkle the hairs of mice on it, make it bleed, touch the sides of it (might induce a anger strike, hit it, figure out it's food and take it.)
